Hurricane Dorian and Albany Court September 3 – 4, 2019
For those attorneys and clients who have court scheduled in the Albany Division on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday September 4, we want to advise you that we are keeping a close watch on Hurricane Dorian because the hurricane may create hazardous travel conditions in the south and southwest Georgia area. We hope to make a decision as early as possible on Monday, September 3 as to whether to have a delayed opening, continue cases, or take other appropriate action as necessary (such as liberally granting continuances) for Albany hearings. Please be on the lookout for an email from the court on Monday, September 2. We will send an email informing you of the status of court for September 3 – 4 no matter the decision.
There also remains the possibility of the storm causing hazardous travel conditions that may affect the Valdosta area. 341 meetings are currently scheduled for Thursday, September 5. We will assess the situation next week and determine if actions need to be taken regarding the Valdosta 341 meetings.
NO CHANGES TO EITHER ALBANY COURT OR VALDOSTA 341 MEETINGS ARE BEING MADE AT THIS TIME.
